Fighting the Winter Blues in Style

lace-gloves-phillip-lim-1-02-12-09Philip Lim 3.1’s Leather with Lace Overlay Driving Gloves are perfect for frosty days. The signs are all here:  frosted windows, zero degree temperatures, cloudy foggy breathes outdoors. Winter has arrived.

As daylight decreases, your mood gets a little darker, but I found the remedy for winter blues: Chic Leather Lace Gloves. Lined with silk, and detailed with a cute wrist snap, these gloves will take you from day wear to night wear with ease.

Only colour avail is ‘Rosie’, a colour which I love, because it’s an easy neutral colour to go with  lots of items already hanging in my closet. Plus, it’s a colour not often seen on winter gloves and I think this colour of leather will wear well, developing unique markings and creases that is all ‘your’ own.  Who’s scared of frostbite now?!

Be Bright!

071609-andrew-marc-coat-400Fall/Winter is usually when we reach towards our staple black, navy or brown wool coats to brave the cold – but stop! This winter we have said bye-bye to black coats.  (And any other dark neutral color)

Color has been infused into our outerwear and thank goodness for it!  Dare you to find a black coat without it’s fruity colored counterpart lurking nearby.  Belted and found in bright fuchsia, yellow, green, orange – think fruit basket colors!

I’ve always loved the structure of ‘Andrew Marc‘ outerwear and he is right on-trend with this gorgeous teal version of the bright coat.

How to wear it?  Let it be your statement and don’t compete with it.  Keep bright colors to outerwear and leave the rest of your outfit neutral – black, navy and beige underneath highlight these coats best.  Keep belt tied tight to cinch the waist and your scarves and gloves are best also neutral.  Come across a fabulous 3/4 sleeve version? – why not pair with a killer pair of elbow length gloves.

Winter is depressing enough as it is so why not be bright and fabulous throughout it?

Slouchy, Sleeky, and Wedgie “it”

Monday, November 6th, 2006

Slouchy, Sleeky, Chunky and Wedgie…no not some bad dwarf names but rather the great chill season footwear I found. I want, I want, I want. On the weekend Babs and I were talking boots and I said hands down Piper Lime is my fav’ new site for shoes (especially boots).

Kenneth Cole Bootscholl's bootnaturalizer denzel

Kenneth Cole New York Ride & Seek
– Almond toe, and a chunky row of buckles.

Dr. Scholl’s Fable – slouchy, green suede. And tell me a Dr Scholl wouldn’t be comfortable?

Naturalizer Denzel
- a high, flat boot that is super sleek. What wouldn’t this go with?
kenzie shoes
The Aerosole wedges are still my favs, but for wedges with a twist of style I like the Apepazza Basso – in rust suede, and love the sculpted wedge. Kenzie Faith – brass studs and stitched accents make it a rich looking.
