First Spring Strappies

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

giometti.pngI just bought my first shoes for spring - I’m off to Hawaii next week (six more sleeps!) so thought why not grab a new pair of gladiators.

My must-have sandal was this Giombetti from Aldo – mostly because of the trendy hues in soft metalics and spring hues that will go with so much. So if I have to travel light at least I’m pretty much handled for a few outfit changes!

Oh, and I’m just a sucker for any shoe that has a zipper up the back.  Sigh.

Return of the Romper

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

RomperSo we all know that one of the biggest trends to hit not only the runways but our favorite stores last season was… the jumpsuit.

Well spring is no different in keeping with the trend of a one-piece ensemble, this time with a slight variation.  The romper is a shortened version of the jumpsuit that is perfect for those hot summer days because it will allow you ladies to bare those sexy legs.

Rompers are making an apperance in most of your favorite lines from high to low end with slight variations like halter tops, spagetti staps or a simple tube top. One of my favorites was this Doin the Jive Romper from Roxy.

Banana goes Boho-Glam

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

banana maxi.pngSimon Kneen is a brilliant man. He’s the Creative Director & Exec VP of Design (whoo mouthful) for Banana Republic. And every collection he’s done since stepping in – just keeps on getting better.
banana grey.png
Banana Republic’s spring collection is very buzz worthy for it’s soft silhouettes and ice cream colors.

Best maxi dress finds here, ladies! Love this chocolate, teal, lime striped dress, which is boho glamorous.

And everything in their Heritage collection is toss-on, instant summer classy. Best of all the whole collection is going eco-friendly.

Jump Start on Jumpsuits

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

jumpsuit.pngI always love an easy outfit. Whether it be a cute, flowy dress or a jumpsuit, a pull-on or throw on look always works for me. It’s lucky that both trends have hit it big this winter and early spring. I’m excited!

But wait there is a certain caution tape that comes with this style that I must pass on to all trend lovers. I know from experience and you may notice from the celebrity shots this month -  jumpsuits are not always the most flattering choice even though they are fun to wear. They’re magic is adding height.

Taking a look at this Marc by Marc Jacobs version of this look you can tell its hard to sell for all body shapes. So choose carefully ladies and get a second opinion before walking out of the house.

Reason Between Season ~ theitlists.com

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

spring-colors.pngSince last September Pantone has been promoting these Spring 2008 color predictions – now it’s time to pay attention and pepper them into your wardrobe to bring fall/winter into spring.

Refreshing splashes of invigorating brights punctuate classic, versatile neutrals (aka all those greys you bought) as designers offer a playful spring palette for endless exploration and creative combinations.

Two prominent color waves Pantone says to expect:
Eye-popping Fuchsia, Magnolia, Teal, Scarlet and Burnt Orange grounded in rich, earthy tones, including Pebble Gray and Curry.

Purples that range from deep, saturated Blackberry, Plum and Aubergine to a Soft Lilac and Muted Boysenberry—the rich hues are often deepened by layers of Black silk net or lace, or sharply contrasted by a clean palette of Bone or Sakura.

My two picks for Spring 2008 “it” colors:   Burnt Orange (almost a red) and pastel Lilac purple

Brocade “it” ~ theitlists.com

brocade-bag.pngDesigners have recently looked into the past in to revive one of the most loved of fabrics – brocade. I’m pleasantly surprised at this heavy detail popping up in spring fashion. Velvet brocade is ultra rich looking!
brocade-bag-dress.jpg
Dolce & Gabbana is using the opulence of brocade for dresses to lush hand bags.

For a modern twist D&G are meshing brocade with tule and exotic animal skins. This is so fun because it’s both eccentric and fashion forward patchworked into one.

Little Toe Peep ~ theitlists.com

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

peep-toe-bootie-gucci.jpgI’ve been looking at my little booties and wondering how they were going to fit into spring. Well they’re not going away, but to be completely in style they’ve evolved to peep-toe booties.

Expect to see the updated oxford, slips of patent leather, and ribbons for spring 2008’s version of the ankle boot. And of course spring colors in trend – like pink.

Here are some tips for wearing peep toe shoes: http://womens-shoes.suite101.com/article.cfm/peep_toe_shoes

Heaven’s Playground – Gsus

Monday, January 29th, 2007

G-sus.pngDutch super-label, Gsus Industries, just keeps on getting better. They call their stores – Heaven’s Playground (click for locations). Now isn’t that exactly what shopping should be all about?

I first noticed them when my galpal Lana was given some free swag to keep her warm and glam’ while she worked the door of some hot spots. Now the Spring Collection 2007 is about to hit the stores and it’s packed full of bright colors (lots of white too).

And you always have to give kudos to a stylish label that’s all about ethical clothing, and believes that market research is taboo (they only design what they’d want to wear) – isn’t that novel?

And a favorite little touch  – is on some pieces the subtle, embroidered thorn crown.

Dream Sequin

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

Inspired by haute couture’s sequins (how fun is that?!) and metallics (that will be alive and well in spring) this trio palette features cool silver pearl, sparkling anthracite, and shimmering gold shadows that let you afford to put some Chanel into your wardrobe.

Chanel Lumière d’Artifices Eyeshadow can be worn individually or blended together, to line, define or highlight your own personal eye candy.

Spring Safari “it”

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

Do you see it? We’re still in love with our cozy sweaters, but there’s that first trickle of this spring 2007 coming to life. The first fashion trend I’m liking is SAFARI (obviously a spill over of fall’s leopard). Creams, golds and khaki.

You know what I love about this round of ‘cargo’ associated with safari? Like on this jacket – the pockets aren’t over kill. And you can already see the past season’s skinny pants infiltrating into a slimmer cargo pant. The ones I’m loving are Banana Republic’s Ryan slim cargo (sorry no picture).

Hooded jacket, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti; Prada suede shorts. Okay, maybe the Prada shorts wont be in my budget, but I’m confident there will be a pair of suede shorts in my life this spring. Pair this outfit with some big tortoise shell sunglasses and you’re set.

In The Nude…Lips That Is Fab Sugar  (read full article)

With all the dazzle and dressing up during the holidays it’s best to leave some things minimal, or rather, nude. This trend has been gracing the pouts of Hollywood, as seen in this weekend’s Life & Style, as well as the Spring ‘07 runways, as beauty marked by CocoChic. This look is especially necessary when glamming up your eye makeup – to create balance and maintain a complete, not overtly made up, face.

What’s up with “it” Spring

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

Spring 2007Why haven’t I play by play’d the recent NY Fashion Week? So many blogs were rehashing the same thing about Spring fashion, and if you want the epitome of photo coverage go to the style.com bible.

But mainly because when I look out my window to the sea of fall leaves exploding into gold colors as I snuggle in my new fall sweater with a cup ‘o chai. Why would I want to write or even think about spring?

And as a reader you can’t rush out to stores to get any of it? So doesn’t it just seem plain mean to tease you about something you can’t have for six more months? Well for you fashion sadists that "have to know" – here’s a Spring Teaser of what "The it Lists" expects to be Spring 2007 ~ Top Ten Runway Predictions… (more…)
