I personally have always thought a woman in a suit is sexy.  Something about the power and success she exudes that oozes sex appeal even though she is covered up.  This season the designers are agreeing with me and have turned the suit into something so chic that it will undoubtedly turn heads.

Camel hair, tweed, pinstripes, vests, double breasted jackets, suits and trench coats were all over the runways in collections from Chanel, Prada, Burberry and Ralph Lauren to name a few.

Waists were cinched & extenuated legs are bare – if you can get away without tights for this look do it (it’s covered up enough on it’s own).

A trend that has carried through from last season and is crucial to pair with this look are lingierie inspired pieces.  A silk or lace camisole peaking out from a high-waisted pencil skirt and blazer (as shown with this gorgeous YSL ensemble) adds chic to corporate.

Ruching has been a huge trend on the runways this Fall 2009 where evening attire did not seem complete without a multitude of draped layers like this dress from Walter.

Ruching for the most part far from subtle – please ladies keep it to one item per outfit and let that be your statement.  Whether an amazing ruched clutch, pleather leggings (which are HOT – keep your eyes open for those!) a skirt, blouse or dress you don’t want to go overboard with this one.

Tip: This trend let’s you wear a ridiculously tight dress at the same time masking that problem area with strategically placed ruching – it’s perfect! Eat all you want on a date.

I’m loving the snood (hooded scarf) as the next fall accessory I must have. Okay on a cold, rainy day in London I am finally in the mood to write something ‘fall’ like. But all I can say is that I hope in North America we call it something better.

In the ‘old day’ a snood was a Brit term for a hairnet. But in today’s terms it’s a tubular neck warmer pull down over the neck like a scarf…or over the head like a hood. A hooded scarf!

Burberry Prorsum and Missoni (shown here) are just two of the designers that hooded up models on the Fall 2009 runways.

I cannot begin to express my excitement over the O.P.I.  Matte Collection! Seriously the most statement nail tips that you will rock this season.

I heard about the matte trend last season – buzz that matte grey will be the new black for fall & frankly I wasn’t sold.  Nails are supposed to be shiny and pretty right?  WRONG. There is something about having matte nails that is so couture, but I had to see it first hand (no pun) to understand.  The color pops more when it’s matte – it’s even brighter!?!  Weird I know, but I promise you it’s true.

O.P.I. used their most demanded shades for this matte collection which just hit stores.  They re-released: Russian Navy, Lincoln Park After Dark, You Don’t Know Jacques!, Alpine Snow, La Paz-Itively Hot and Gargantuan Green Grape.  I want them all!

Tip: Do not last as long on the nail as the regular O.P.I. finishes = re-do more often but they’re well worth it. Stay far away from any base or top coats and lotions on your nails when applying as it alters the matte effect.
