This Fall is a season of tough-chic beauty: one part Veronica Lake, one part Robert Palmer video vixen. The item every girl needs? Ruby red lipstick.[Style.com].
Pink is out! Red and burgundy for lips (go sheer red if you’re faint of heart) and pair with a rosy tone blush for cheeks.
Eyes: brows should be natural looking, but shaped (not overly tweezed) and lashes should just be one good coat of mascara (brown or black).
Foundation: this fall use it sparingly or go bare. A tinted moisturizer is a safe bet.
The final touch is a dark polish: browns or burgundy. This will subtly pop on fall’s tweeds and plaids.

Luxe Grunge - says it all. If one designer sums up this season it’s Marc Jacobs.
You may not wear an original MJ, but it’ll be hard to avoid the knock offs of this chicer updated grunge/boho collection; an unkempt approach to wardrobe (a la Olsen twins).
First motivated by Seattle’s groundbreaking rock scene in the 1990s - Jacobs’ update contains all the mainstays of yesterday’s grunge (flannel, plaid, layers and leg warmers) alongside today’s sophisticated pieces, including capes, shawls and jackets.

Dresses: It’s the season of the dress. A sweater dress is the best choice (and you can warm up with leggings underneath. Legging rules - cover your bum!).
Gold: Gold hardware, around your neck (layers of chains), shoe details, and fabric. It’s a rare woman who can mix silver and gold -so be safe and retire the silver for a little while.
Boots: Knee-high or little booties - just keep in mind the heel is flat or chunky (no stiletto). Cuffs & buckles galore.
Skinny Pants: With so much layering volume on top, you want your bottoms slim. The only skinny I’ve ‘really’ liked is the velvet skinny.
Menswear-inspired Trousers: If skinny and leggings don’t do it for you -your answer is plaids and pinstripes in wide-leg or long Bermuda short-style.

Sweaters: Since skinny is the look below - the counterbalance is big up top. Oversized flowing knits.
White Blouses: Always a classic, but now they look stunningly crisp with black, red and leopard accents.
Red accents: Red is the No. 1 accent color for the season, says Gregg Andrews, a fashion director at Nordstrom. Buy a red coat, or a red handbag. Wear red lips.
Black accents: Coordinate jet onyx beads and crystals with just the right sparkle to subtly stand out on black.
