The Duchess, Stacy Ann Ferguson ala Fergie has been spending the last months promoting herself as the new spokesperson for Viva Glam VI. And now the latest shade is available in stores. Over $100 million has been raised by M.A.C. Cosmetics for their AIDS program.
“I’ve been a fan of the campaign since the early days, and I remembered when RuPaul and Mary J. Blige did it,” Fergie says. “They pick controversial people who aren’t afraid to speak their mind, and that’s definitely me. I’m very proud to be a part of it.”
Fergie is an “it girl” because she is such a radical free spirit. The singer catapulted her solo success beyond Black Eyed Peas, is engaged to hottie Josh Duhamel, and is dabbling in some acting. Thumbs up are given to her because she’s using that success to promote M.A.C. Cosmetics virtuous cause.
She’s been pretty candid about her dodgy sexual and narcotic past, and so it only makes sense this is her way of moving forward from that in a positive way.
P.S. Fergie even remixed her hit song Glamourous into Viva Glamourous. You can download it off the M.A.C. website.
International Women’s Day is observed annually on March 8, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate their achievements.
The first International Women’s Day was launched on 8 March 1911 in Copenhagen by Clara Zetkin, Leader of the ‘Women’s Office’ for the Social Democratic Party in Germany. This followed many years of women’s campaigning dating back to British MP, John Stuart Mill, the first person in Parliament calling for women’s right to vote.
So make a difference, think globally and act locally!! Make everyday International Women’s Day. Do your bit to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding.

To celebrate we want to share the amazing “it” girls we’ve picked over the last few months. Each spectacular in their own way.
Kelly Wearstler
Amy Adams
Coco Rocha
Stella Keitel
Petra Nemcova
Julia Restoin-Roitfeld
Ashlee Simpson
Avril Lavigne
Drew Barrymore
Corinne Bailey Rae
I have to echo Fab Sugar’s “girl crush” on Kelly Wearstler. Fab Sugar dubbed our gal as a standing out as an eclectic and a risk taker in January’s Vogue.
For me it’s been love since check in - at the ultra, hip Viceroy in Santa Monica. One of my fav hotel stays ever! Beyond being the owner’s wife, Kelly is the creative eye and lifestyle muse for all the Viceroy resorts. Her cabana’s at the Viceroy’s Cameo Bar make it a celeb staple hang out.

While being a judge on Bravo’s Top Design she proved she dares to mix prints, play with color, and experiment with whacky footwear or hairstyles (ala crimped or poodled). Let’s not forget Wearstler is married to a millionaire and co-hosts parties with Vogue. She currently has her own boutique within Bergdorf Goodman in New York and is launching a clothing line.
Kelly Wearstler: old-world Hollywood + a modern vibe = it girl

In the words of Thumper and my Mom, “If you haven’t got anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.” But I can’t help myself!
Fashionista Diaries follows the lives of 6 young glam interns. Two of them go to work for *** House PR’s Mandy Erickson. The way she treated her interns is shocking! The nasty lady was prepared to offer both interns jobs, but both girls didn’t want to work with her. Good decision ladies.
Mandy Erickson is a monster bitch and worthy of being put out there as an example of how not to be - - ever. An it girl isn’t just about being talked about - it’s about having the spark of somethin’ somethin’ that sets you apart from the crowd in a positive way.
My distaste of her was further fueled when I read Jezebel’s take on this nasty piece of work. I’m perplexed on why she’d go on a show and spotlight her crappy ways. There really is a time when ‘no press is bad press’ just doesn’t apply.
Born in Italy - raised in Colorado, this month’s “it” girl is Amy Adams. She’s the new princess of comedy to drama.
Last month she charmed the box office and McDreamy in Enchanted. You might recognize her from Catch Me If You Can or spoiled sis in the wedding date, but the role to watch will be her next drama.
Julia Roberts and & Tom Hanks dub their co-star as the ‘one to watch’ in Charlie Wilson’s War.
She’s quirky!! And that in itself is part of her beauty and vibrant personality stamping around Hollywood.
Adams sports, “I have worked with some of the meanest people in the world. You can’t do anything to intimidate me.” Okay so she’s feisty too. That makes her an “it” girl.
A for sure "it girl" quality is to be mysterious - in the case of Coco Rocha that starts with her name. No one will ever find out Coco Rocha’s real first name.
“I’ve never told anyone,” the part-Irish, part-Russian beauty tells [Flare] The Richmond, B.C., native does share that Coco is short for “mon petit coco,” a pet name courtesy of her maman. Discovered at age 14 while performing with her Irish-dancing troupe, she’s since starred in campaigns for Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga and Lanvin and was dubbed “girl of the season” when she debuted on the runways in 2006 - - and she’s still an "it".
Flare Mag runs thru 10 things they love about model-of-the-moment Coco Rocha. Here are a few:
* She’s the face of Yves Saint Laurent "Elle," the newest fragrance from the fashion house.
* She refuses to choose—she loves lipstick and lip gloss.
* Even though she’s donned the best of the haute heap (during the Fall ’07 couture collections, she was cloaked in Jean Paul Gaultier, Dior, Christian Lacroix and Chanel), Coco still loves her jeans and kicks. “Tight Rag & Bone jeans—which are my favourite, the fit is perfect—with Converse sneakers.”
* Her first pair of high-heels were black stilettos. Naturally.
* She doesn’t skip breakfast (scrambled eggs and fruit), even during the hectic schedule of the international collections.

Stella Keitel is anything but a tabloid temptress - despite her parents being bad ass, Harvey Keitel and Lorraine Bracco. It’s because of her success under the radar that I’ve deemed her this month’s “it girl.”
The native New Yorker is signed with Wilhelmina Models, finishing her psychology degree, an addict to Barney’s and NY’s Nobu, and this last year wrapped to indie films: Perfect Sport and The Life of Lucky Cucumber.
Stella Keitel holds her ground, whether it’s striding down the catwalk or arguing with her Hollywood dad. "He’s one of those people that doesn’t have respect for models. He doesn’t think there’s much talent involved." Then she adds, "He’s wrong, by the way (Paper Mag).”
Sounds like Keitel has the spunk and style warranted for an “it girl.” One we’ll have to keep an eye on as she evolves.

Not only is Petra Nemcová a drop dead stunning, gorgeous supermodel, but she is also a survivor and that makes her a huge "it" girl.
At the top of all her other achievements is her new charity: Happy Hearts Fund which provides aid to schoolchildren. She set up the charity after he nearly died in the 2004 tsunami - which did take the life of her fiance. Nemcová suffered a broken pelvis and internal injuries, but she still held onto a palm tree for 8 hours until rescue. Glamour magazine recently awarded Nemcová a "Survivor Award" for the tsunami ordeal.
Her ‘model’ props include…
- 2006 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
- 2007 British FHM calendar as Miss May.
- Host of TLC’s A Model Life.
And if that wasn’t enough…she also wrote Love Always, Petra (2005) about her early life under Communist rule in Czechoslovakia, her entrance into the field of fashion and modeling, and her breakthrough into Sports Illustrated, which was her springboard to becoming a supermodel.
This month’s "it girl" is not just another trashy celebrity offspring, this time it’s with fashion in her genes. Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, daughter of French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld, is a full package.
I have to properly footnote WhoWhatWear for summarizing up this gals coolness factor that might be impossible to beat: She’s Tom Ford-approved (the face of his perfume Black Orchid), has a true tastemaker for a mother…
…as well as a randomly interesting career (art design at Baron + Baron in New York). Not to mention that she’s got enviable coloring (dark hair, blue eyes) and a figure that was built for Alaia. If you don’t believe the latter, just check out the far right picture…
As WWW alluded she’ll star in the campaign for Black Orchid, which will launch in November as Tom Ford Black Orchid. Word has it, no black orchids existed until Ford approached a botanist with the idea of creating a one-of-a-kind flower for his fragrance. Any woman worthy of representing something so unique has to have something really "it" about her.

I have this nasty guilty pleasure. It’s for cheesy girl music. I think the princess of my vice is
Ashlee Simpson.
Okay she’s a bit insecure and hypocritical about "being me" and then running off to grab a nose job to compete with sis Jessica. She even survived being busted for lip synching on SNL.
Which was just stupid because the girl can sing. Her album, I Am Me is her best, but I still love to rock out to La La off of Autobiography.
And now Ashlee is growing up and finding a chic new image (but we know the punk pop roots are still there). Her appearance in Harper’s Bazaar (May 2007) and US Magazine voting her the Swan, are both telling signs this late bloomer will continue to blow us away with her transformation. Go Ashlee Go (but don’t go too glam, and loose all that spunky edge).
And just for the record - personally I like the old nose better. But either way she’s an "it."

Avril Lavigne has gone from a girl that couldn’t decide on her own what hoodie she should wear "um, the blue one or the red one," to a glammed up woman.
Okay she still rocks out in a hoodie now and again, but now it’s from her collection of many. "I have a million hoodies. I layer them over everything - from cute T-shirts and jeans to dresses [via Lucky Magazine]."
Still our littlle Skat8R girl is all grown up and her new album, The Best Damn Thing, hits stores TODAY. With the spunky hit, Girlfriend, I finally have a song to crank and make Saturday dusting bearable - move over ‘Stars are Blind’! But be ready for love struck vocals (marriage will do that to a girl), and drums from Travis Barker. Listen at Avril’s My Space.
Avril recommends you find your inner wild chid with a few of her favorite things: red nails, black pumps, diamond studs, and Sass & Bide Jeans. And for her new blonde highlights she’s obsessed with Kerastates Age Recharge Deep Conditioner.
February’s "it" girl was an easy pick. Drew Barrymore has rebounded off her breakup from ex-fiance, Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti and is rekindling her romance with all of us fans. I think I’ve caught her on every talk show as she pumps the accolades of her new movie Music & Lyrics - in which she’s starring with Hugh Grant.
Being single becomes her because it seems like she’s finally found her fashion style.
First her chic updo at the Calvin Klein after-party during Fashion Week; Au natural beauty at the Golden Globes; and then that amazing black and gold gown at the premier of Music & Lyrics.
And let’s not forget her recent cover and shoot for Harper’s Bazaar. In it she dishes about her upcoming movie, Music and Lyrics, co-star Hugh Grant, love, and advises her pal, Lindsay Lohan. Sneak peak of the article here.
It’s been fun to grow up with Drew, and great to now take a few life and fashion cues from her too.
P.S. Recent rumor has her linked with director Spike Jonze this past Valentine’s Day.
Corinne Bailey Rae’s soulful vocals pin you!! in the guitar ballad "Like A Star" and uplift you with blues-fueled school girl charm in "Put Your Records On." Her self-titled debut runs a blend of old and new - ala Billie Holiday, Norah Jones and Dido all in one.
In the space of a few months this it girl has powered through the charts, making her way thru TV appearances - even appearing with Mary J Blige on Oprah (Tues Jan 16). But don’t wait to pick up this disc, it’s that good.
As for fashion she’s still defining that, but she’s not doing too badly with her mix of trendy and vintage. And you have to grant fashion creed to any woman quoted saying: "I love how the world was before lycra. Clothes then were so womanly, what they revealed and hid. There’s no mystery in a pair of hot pants is there? (via Guardian).
I never used to care much for Kate Moss. Ok, maybe I was a bit fascinated by what Johnny Depp saw in her during their tumultuous relationship, but mostly I was very confused with the attention given to the waif of all waifs.
Ever since Kate’s life exploded in Sept 2005, when she was caught "powdering her nose" with an illegal substance, there seems to be more depth to her. She was dumped by H&M and other major contracts, but a year later the waifish style icon’s comeback has seen her profile reach new heights. Her annual income is believed to have risen to about $45 mill USD working with Rimmel, Agent Provocateur, Virgin Mobile, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Roberto Cavalli, Stella McCartney, Bulgari, Chanel, Nikon, Versace, Calvin Klein Jeans and Burberry. Now she’s set to start designing a new collection for UK’s TopShop (read more Couture in the City).
Here’s a fashionista that doesn’t need a stylist (ala Rachel Zoe) to set her look. Moss takes risks Read More »
