Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine. Gin cocktails! My heart be still.
When I heard that Donnelly Group had taken over the old space of beauty mecca, Beauty Mark…well I just scratched my head. When I heard it was going to be called Killjoy. Repeat.
At the recent media launch it was gin concoctions galore, charcuturie of top local meats, and ample sampling of the wine on tap. You read that right. Killjoy is the first restaurant in Yaletown to have Vancouver Urban Winery’s wine-on-tap program: eight B.C. red and white wines on tap.
My Gin Reco: ‘Unusually Yours’ with Hendrick’s gin, ginger, St. Germain (an elderflower liqueur), pear juice, cucumber foam, and rose spritz.
Once you’re finished enjoying the cavernous main floor there is a hide-away downstairs for bottle service (ala Vancouver style), DJ and a small dance floor. Killjoy is a cozy space and a nice addition to Yaletown.

This chic bonnet Kookn Kap keeps the odor out of the hair and the hair out of the food!
This “it” gal is all about cooking and baking. You can find me spending all my evenings trying new recipes and the weekends testing them out with friends while entertaining. But the one thing I can never stand is the smell of cooking in my hair. I have no time to get a blowout or get ready before guests come; that was until I was introduced to a fabulous new concept.

In January 2013 it was announced that Gucci Timepieces and Jewelry were coming together with Chinese actress and Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations, Li Bingbing, on a new Collection – an eco-friendly limited edition Bamboo watch collection.
Each watch is handmade, as if that isn’t impressive enough; they are using bezel, a lightweight bamboo and have also created a bracelet to complete the collection. The bracelet is made of bamboo and Tagua nut, which is a vegetable ivory as opposed to using animal tusks.
You can purchase this watch online at Gucci, choosing from the three styles available. The collection is beautiful and simple with much attention to detail like the “Responsible Life” script you will find engraved into each piece. I think the silver accents the naturalness of the bamboo perfectly, making this piece a luxury watch must-have to keep wrapped around your pretty little wrist.
