Wren to Watch

Fashion designer Melissa Coker, a former Helmut Lang and W intern, named her incredibly cool line after Charles Dickens’ character Jenny Wren.

Wren Clothing is a study of contrasts - at once easy and refined, classic yet whimsical. Yup, that pretty much describes my primary style love.

Her first collection debuted last year exclusively at Opening Ceremony, and now Barney’s and Neiman Marcus are the first two biggies to carry this new line.

Brush “it” Up - Mascara Trends

givenchy mascara.png secret weapon of mascara has become the brush.  Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes High Precision Panoramic Mascara (first of all wins a prize for longest mascara name) has a round vibrating mascara.pngbrush meant to adapt to all eye shapes an reach every lash for optimal separation sans slumping. It’s designed to grip lashes starting the their roots.

And there’s the auto-powered vibrating brush from Estee Lauder’s TurboLash. You turn it on and the brush does it all for volume, length, curl and separation. I just don’t know if I want my mascara vibrating.

It’s official - headscarves are no longer just for convertibles. They’ll be taking a front seat at for Fall 2008 trends.

We had a sneak peak when D&G accessorized their runways with them, and Leighton Meester Gossip Girl-ing them. Now you too can make yourself an instant glamazon in one silk swoop. Tie them in the front via Jackie O style icon, and when you’re not wearing it tie it into a knot onto one of the straps of your big bag.

My scoop: London’s Topshop has a vintage section to die for - oversized sunglasses and silk scarves in the masses, but every single one an individual.

Overseas on the UK they’re getting first crack at a never-before-seen nail beauty ritual. Lancome has has new varnish duo called Crème de Nacre.

Lancome Crème de Nacre redefines traditional polish as a thick cream that you apply with a rubber tip, rather than a brush. In an instant, nails are adorned with a gleaming pearly shine, streak-free, resplendent of silk. The Golden Apala Crème de Nacres comes in a varnish duo, a sophisticated golden shade and a subtle white pearly shade.

Bye bye regular nail polish? No news yet on how this dries, removes or staying power!

gemmabondgirlfragrance.jpgThe freshest Bond girl in years! Gemma Arterton will be hitting the silver screen in Quantum of Solace this October.

Gemma might be beautiful, talented and one of Britain’s brightest acting hopes, but according to the Guardian she doesn’t have what it takes to be a diva: She’s just too normal. ‘I still have student debts to pay off,’ says the 22-year-old, who recently beat 1,500 nubile hopefuls to become the newest Bond Girl. ‘I think I’ve used most of my earnings buying bits and bobs from Primark.’

The stunning actress is fronting the newest fragrance from Avon - Bond Girl 007 - a partnership with James Bond entertainment; said to be the biggest global fragrance launch of the year.

Once she’s done with a bit of spying, Gemma has bagged the lead role in BBC’s blockbuster production of Tess Of The D’Urbervilles. First she makes out with Daniel Craig, and then an iconic maiden. That’s an “it” girl. 

Zipped Back Up

I already have a few H&M, Graham & Spencer, and Kensie tops that all have a strong industrial zipper up the back. "Alber Elbaz pioneered the whole exposed zipper thing at Lanvin," says stylist Rachel Zoe. "I love a classic chic dress and then an exposed zipper in the back." And there’s also the sexy factor.

I’ve not usually been a big fan of Marc Jacobs, but his Fall line is sitting right with me. He’s got the right amount of minimalism, with shape and finishings - like an exposed zipper. I love this Marc by Marc Jacobs Bramble Tweed Top. The textured tweedy top has a roomy silhouette accentuated by a wide funnel neck and short dolman sleeves. A gleaming exposed zipper runs halfway up the back and two bold buckles rest near the bottom hem.

Zip that baby up - in red please!

Mobile Headsets have a reputation for being ugly and uncool, but the new Aliph Jawbone II Bluetooth headset is anything but that - it truly belongs on your face.

Aptly named colors: Goldy Lips, Blah Blah Black and Silver Tongue. Who knew chocolate brown, medical grade plastic would go so well with the butter soft leather ear loops - my Jawbone is the Goldy Lips which is really a rose gold. Oh! and one more bonus - instead of that gastly flashing blue bluetooth light the Jawbone’s subtle blip is white.
