This season’s flared skirts are full and fabulous! As we turn the corner back into fall I think the next logical step is to stick to skirts, especially these cute flared and knee length skirts.
Tucking and pleating is perfect for those days where you feel tuckered and depleted! Rich f
abrics and vibrant patterns are perfect to make you feel vibrant and fun. Forever 21 has a huge selection flared skirts of different prints and lengths. Shown here are my favorites for fall, the tartan plaid and a fall floral (both big trends this fall).
I’m excited about this trend. I am going to use it as a personal reminder this fall not to chicken out and stick to pants. Why? This summer I’ve been reminded on how comfortable not wearing pants really can be! I was surprised at how easy it is to look dressy and classy with seamless effort.

I rarely put up a trend that is rubbing me wrong - but I can’t help myself. Harem pants are sadly bound to haunt me this fall.
Harem pants aka MC Hammer pants from the 80’s are peppering the Europe fashion mags. The style is voluminous at the hips and narrow at the legs. Please show me a body type that is flattering to?
Spotted in the Fall collections at Phillip Lim, Balenciaga, and Stella McCartney yet the fashion police are still having trouble swallowing this trend. Even Harper’s Bazaar reported that pants for fall were an odd-looking lot, but that the “clear-cut winner for weirdness was the drop-crotch trouser.”
Come on - they’re also being dubbed ‘drop crotch pants’ - how unsexy is that?
P.S. Love Diane Krueger’s shoes though!

Sadly a few rainy days are taking away my summery days of bare legs and skirts. But since I’m by no means ready for heavy tights – I’m really happy to find new Secret Light Tights.
From funky ballerinas to towering pumps, from early morning meeting to late nite cocktails, the soft, silky tight are ready for every look. They’re soft, sheer tights that give you just enough color without the thick feeling. I’ve been loving the warm colors of flannel grey, earth brown and black (and there is a double diamond pattern too that I’ve not tried yet).
I’m steppin’ light - whether it’s a cool August evening or a fresh fall afternoon. You can buy Secret Light Tights at almost any department store.
It Girl Olivia Thirlby is dope. She is dope in her new movie and pretty dope in real life too.
Her performance as the sultry teenaged, summer love interest of Josh Peck in The Wackness was definetely slick. She plays a "way to cool for school" hottie that falls for t
he “cant buy me love” style lackie who happens to be her step dad’s weed dealer.
A very modern day scenario. This movie is not as wacky as you think because it turns out to be about some simple and real aspects of life, like focusing on the ‘dope parts’ and not so much the ‘wack parts.’
The best part of Olivia’s real life attitude is her real approach to living life in New York because of the simple convenience of it. She is quoted in this month’s Marie Claire that she likes living in New York opposed to LA because “ If you are cooking breakfast and need blueberries five minutes later you are back home. In LA its 30 minutes later.”
With an attitude like that ‘her dopeness’ will surely be getting what she wants, when she wants it. That’s an "it girl" in our books.

Oh the shoes I’ve seen. In London I drooled, coveted, and dipped my toes into some of the most divine shoes. What a teaser of what is to come: Fall / Winter 2008 is going to be the season of the shoe. I can’t wait to blog about shoes!
Before we get into styles that defy physics… I’ll start with the tame ones - a dash of Mary Janes, Peep Toes and Gladiators merge into the new T-Bar shoe. I love this style with my jeans or a dress, I bought two pairs on my trip.
These black and white Manolo Blahnik Graphic Gillie shoes, are the epitome of the T-Bar trend. Giorgio Armani’s Watersnake sandal are a pretty alternative.

I’m still all about my mineral makeup. The next best thing to hit your foundation is a battery operated dispenser.
SK-II Air Touch Foundation isn’t just cool because it’s automated, but more importantly the makeup capsule disperses foundatino in a fine-airbrushed mist.
Even better, the makeup is laced with anti-agin pitera (which from Sake), and it soo-o-o ionized that particles are attracted only to skin, no clothing.
Last I checked Amazon only had 5 left in stock.
Finally she has her own line! I’ve spent hours staying tuned to style watch checking out the next big Rachel Bilson outfit,
now I can just head to a store!
Thanks to DKNY Rachel doesn’t have to draw out her dream - she just had to show up with the ideas and a name to fit. Bilson’s trademark line for DKNY Jeans is Edie Rose which is after her grandmother Edie and a close family friend Rose. A simple name for a simple line with some simple tricks of the trade as listed by Bilson in her InStyle interview, this month.
Bilson seems to think her style to success secrets is based on these 3 principles:
1) Pick your basics and your base colors (hers are black and white and grey)
2) Create your signature style my mixing vintage, luxe, and cheap!
3) Add a bright color to your basics or accessorize like crazy.
Easy tips to look great everyday. We’ll listen to the girl who chicly wore a Chanel dress backwards at the P.S. Arts benefit (Sept 2007). A fashion risk that paid off! ~ Nicole, guest "it" writer.
Skinny is predicted to be good all the way to Fall 2010, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a few wider staples holding their own.
So in the
vein of skinny you might be wondering what’s happening with leggings. When the season cools down, fall will be ripe for Jet Black leather leggings - especially black patent leggings.
American Apparel is a great budget find, and for more of splurge the Members Only ones are gleaming slick of licorice-black patent in a dramatic skintight legging. They create instant urban edge and adds dark glamour to any ensemble.
No we’re not advocating a fake tan disaster - just your orange makeup. The orange beauty trend started with M.A.C. Cosmetic’s infamous lipstick in Morange - after being spotted at the hottest Spring/Summer 08 shows and then selling out in the stores. Don’t worry they’re restocked so go now!
Nails: The orange trend is quickly gathering pace and will lead the way into fall. Make
quick use of your neon nails because they’ll soon be a memory to this blazing tone. Lancome Nail Lacquer in 008, Revlon ONe Perfect Coral.
Lips & Cheeks: Just as bold as last years red lips, but more modern is the new “tomato” for instant glamification. Stila Cream Blusher in Gladiola, another MAC pick is Genuine Orange, or Neo Sci-Fi.
Eyes: Sultry doesn’t mean smokey, with a smudge of tangerine from lashes to brow. Giorgio Armani eye shadow in Maetro No 5.
Ha! check out 1988 Revoloution’s feauture on the solo show of mass designer, Peter Gronquist. Okay…this not Fendi chainsaw, Paul Smith artilery, or Versace’s gun are making me wonder if fashion really does kill.
