Valley Girl the Musical

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Think you’ve had enough of the 80’s? Not yet!! "Like, gag me with a dance number …"

Nicolas Cage has paid his dues on the way to being an A-List actor. But like most stars, Cage has few skeletons on his resume. Variety announced that MGM is planning a musical remake of Cage’s first major motion picture – 1983’s "Valley Girl."

Valley Girl" was the title of a song by Moon Zappa that mocked the slang of suburban LA teen girls in the 80’s. And lead to the namesake movie About mixed-clique relationship between a punk (Nicolas Cage) and a Valley girl (Deborah Foreman). A really bad version of "Romeo & Juliet," notable mainly for its soundtrack.

London Hip Hangouts

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Picture 3.pngSome of the hottest happenings in London are coming from the East Enders. Traditionally looked down upon in comparison to London’s posh Westside, things are changing in the East as artists, models and hipsters are trickling in to make a tired neighborhood - fresh. East symbolizes a new surge of creativity that has reawakened London’s fashion set.

First there was BoomBox Club that pulled in everyone from Kylie Minogue to Agnes Deyn, and now there’s Shoreditch House. Shoreditch is a ‘members only’ club, that boast a rooftop pool to lounge about (unheard of in London) and regulars of the like of Pete Dougherty and Jude Law. Earlier this month I had a girls nite (pic above) that went from Shoreditch to T Bar.

One more night spot ‘must-know’ is the famous Buddha Bar, originally from Paris and then Dubai and New York, is now open in London too.

P.S. A trendster tip for you - - founder of BoomBox has launched a new fashion and music website: ponystep.com

Dussault Zips “it” Up ~ theitlists.com

dussault beauties.jpg When I joined the Burlesque Beauties at their gig at the Playboy Mansion, we did a little detour to visit Vancouver’s Canadian designer, Jason Dussault and his L.A. location, the Dussault Apparel™ Motel Store.

The themed store is designed to look like a creepy 1970’s roadside motel, and is famous for shutting down part of Melrose Avenue for it’s grand opening launch co-hosted by Dussault’s business partner in the MoneyBag fashion line, Gene Simmons.

I couldn’t leave without a Dussault hoodie ’cause once you put one on you’re sold. It starts with the butter-soft, faux mink lined pockets and hood. Oh my. And then there’s the gorgeous Chinese silk embroidered lining. And that’s just the inside.

I picked a white-on-white print with a stunning Koi Fish embroidered on the back. Every time I zip it up I feel hardcore edgy and cute all in one. You’ve never tried a hoodie like this one - and and you’ll never want any other hoodie except Dussault after.

Purple Parade ~theitlists.com

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Did you know that purple is the color of transformation?  So then what will you be changing your nails, your throw pillows and your accessories to this summer?  Purple!  metal candy grape.png

Shoes, handbags, nail polish, to glassware and homeware you name it - it’s hot in purple.  Check out the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer in Grape for your home! Or my favourite Shu Uemura eye shadow in Metallic Candy Grape.  It just screams fupurple paraden and that’s what you should do with purple while it’s here.

Purple is crazy and abrupt so use your imagination and create your own purple parade today.  The sophisticated richness of this bright shade will leave you royalty satisfied.

Our how about the Majik Cafe in Belgrade, Serbia’s very own Purple Parade.

Clutch “it” ~ theitlists.com

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Picture 3.pngFrom styling Red Hot Chili Peppers videos to fashion forecasting writers, LA expats Jenny Graham and Toni Spencer launched tees line ‘Velvet’ in 1997 (Salma Hayek and Charlize Theron were among their many Hollywood fans).

The pairgraham spencer clutch.png followed this success with Graham and Spencer in 2006, designing beautiful easy-to-wear pieces including chunky cashmere knits to print smock tops. My closet is full of both Velvet and Graham & Spencer. They’re my un-basic looking, basics.

So tickle me bagged to learn that Graham & Spencer are now launching a hand bag collection this Autumn. I’ve only seen a few and this clutch is ‘the pick’ from Elle UK and me (this clutch in red is stunning).

Hot “it” Pants - Naked & Famous Jeans

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Picture 3.pngDressy jeans are only a silk thread away with Naked & Famous Denim. The hand-dyed, raw Japanese fabric contains 30% silk! (67% Cotton, 30% Silk, 3% Elastane). This particular blend is exclusive to Naked & Famous Denim as they developed the silk denim together with the mill in Japan.Picture 4.png

Hardcore denim fashionistas don’t wash these jeans for six months to get an individualized distressed look. So you’re set for an exclusive look, but best of all is what’s really getting buzz on this denim is that they’re under $150.

The brand name, Naked & Famous, is a satire of our celeb-obsessed culture, and pokes fun at “Hollywood” and “Glamour” brands that sell jeans for $300 and up solely because Jessica Simpson wears them and not because they are higher quality. Brilliant!

Indie-Electro Pop “it” - CSS

Monday, July 21st, 2008

CSS.jpgAt Cochella they performed “Meeting Paris Hilton," but they are anything but star struck (it’s not a flattery track), and has opened for Ladytron.

If electro and attitude are up your aisle than you will love this Brazillian pop group that releases their new album, Donkey, today.

CSS aka Cansei de Ser Sexy ("Tired of being sexy" in Portuguese) is fronted by lead singer, LoveFoxxx (only the coolest name in pop). She’s a brave fashionista known for her show-stopping sequin catsuits.

With saucy mélange of electro-pop jangle and sweet punk sneer: Rat Is Dead (Rage), Reggae All Night, and Give Up are just three reasons why this band is popular in New York and London - - and now ready to go global hot.

I’d put money that you’ve heard them on TV commercials and not known it - listen.
