What’s new this week at Life & Style? Once again, they have managed to cram a whole week’s worth of fabulous fashion into their pages, and this week’s hottest trends are up to the minute awesome.
Who knew that the latest “it” bag would only cost $15! First spotted carried by Keira Knightley, this Anya Hindmarch bag is perfect for toting all of your goodies and also preaches a positive message about conservation.
Stylish and socially aware…bonus!

The New York Time’s Ruth La Ferla wrote a fashion story, presumably attempting to analyze what she considers the hippest summer fashion trend — bohemian chic with a modern edge.
She acknowledges that the current generation of young women aren’t exactly replicas of their 1960s counterparts (though some obnoxiously pretend to be), but this point seems grazed over in favor of conveying a carefree, we’re-independent-and-confident-but-didn’t- spend-three-hours-getting-ready (no, they spent four).

Q: I fell in love with a pair of purple shorts at Forever 21. Purple is one of my favorite colors, but I have absolutely no idea what to wear with these shorts besides white and/or black. Tips, please?
A: Add Neutrals: Purple combines well with shades of grey, beige, and brown. Taupe, in particular, will pair well with purple.
Our favorite color combinations with purple? Purple + Grey, Purple + Cerulean Blue, Purple + Brown, and Purple + Orange. Read on for more tips for creating an outfit around the color purple.
Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova, along with her husband Justin Portman have put their Manhattan “apartment” on the market. Most New Yorkers are lucky if their apartment is the size of a shoe box, but when you’re a supermodel married to a real estate heir, your apartment just happens to be a 4,100 sq ft 6th floor penthouse.
Last week I whited out for you. Here’s the ultimate burning hot fringe fashion - in white. With Tassel Fringe, Prada demonstrates their extraordinary feel for on-the-edge design and exquisite details.
Fringes aren’t just for cheesy motor cycle jackets and chaps! But please don’t mix chaps with this Prada delight. This purse is completely sexy. sexy. sexy. Too much? Frye’s has a sweet substitute.
It comes in black too, but it’s the white screams details.
The smock dress (or trapeze dress) is a trend to not be missed. The smock dress ruled the catwalks and now is making it’s way into the closet of every diva.
It’s popularity stems from it’s versatility to wear on it’s own or pair with denim. But also for it’s ability to mask so many body hotspots, and all while being both super comfy & stylish. That makes the smock dress a staple for summer 2007.
Smocks are showing up from Prada to the Gap, and not just as dresses either. I’m working on updating my personal "it list" and may have a replacement for last year’s Twice Shy peacock and sunglass tee that so many of you emailed me about when it was sadly out of stock.

This year I’m loving Twice Shy’s Smock Top. I tried it on in the white with the ice blue trim, but had the perfect outfit to match the ice body with green trim; and love the wooden buttons on both colors. The tree graphic is edgy (compared to the usual butterlies and flowers out there), and if that’s not green enough for you it’s made of 95% organic cotton.

This month’s "it girl" is not just another trashy celebrity offspring, this time it’s with fashion in her genes. Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, daughter of French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld, is a full package.
I have to properly footnote WhoWhatWear for summarizing up this gals coolness factor that might be impossible to beat: She’s Tom Ford-approved (the face of his perfume Black Orchid), has a true tastemaker for a mother…
…as well as a randomly interesting career (art design at Baron + Baron in New York). Not to mention that she’s got enviable coloring (dark hair, blue eyes) and a figure that was built for Alaia. If you don’t believe the latter, just check out the far right picture…
As WWW alluded she’ll star in the campaign for Black Orchid, which will launch in November as Tom Ford Black Orchid. Word has it, no black orchids existed until Ford approached a botanist with the idea of creating a one-of-a-kind flower for his fragrance. Any woman worthy of representing something so unique has to have something really "it" about her.

From bold geometric prints to electro-washed retro florals, these designs are fit for both beach babes and city slickers. The long dress threw me off a bit - rather un DVF-like - but the modern day escape-to-Palm-Beach frocks are unabashedly DVF.
Laid back, cool and certainly chic, how I wished I’d had this turquoise bikini and funky cover up while on my recent trip to Greece!

While many may say that the 80’s look is dead, it’s still fun to play with the color palette’s of the era now and then.
That’s why I love these gaucho pants from New York Couture. Available in a variety of colors, they are a comfy and casual way to add a little artful influence to an otherwise bland wardrobe.

You said: With 67% of the vote, Electric Blue is most definitely IN.
Omiru’s take: We love bright colors–especially for summer, and particularly for this season. What’s special about Electric Blue is it’s nearly universally flattering. On dark skin tones, electric blue really pops. And on fairer skin tones, the color adds life to your complexion. Style tip? With a color as bold as this, keep your outfits simple. Try electric blue as a solid colored dress–or buy a simple top in this bold color.
Fancy wallpapering your home with pictures of yourself? Or your dog/cat/budgie/Great Auntie Martha? Wallpeppr is the work of designer Carlo Jorges, who has invented a special "roller" that coats your walls with images taken from your Flickr account. It uses inkjet technology, with the roller connecting to your PC via a network cable. Does it actually work, though? Well, who knows - there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of information available about it yet, so you might want to wait a few days before you start planning to redecorate the house.
Haviannas sandals are like the most comfortable rubber flip-flops in the world, they’re made in Brazil using a secret rubber formula. I’m left to ponder that a bit, since all rubber formulas seem a bit dubious to me.
Created in 1962, Havaianas (Portuguese for "Hawaiians") have been flip, flip flopping for years. But it’s really only in the last 5 years Havaianas have been named by Cosmopolitan, Elle, and other fashion trendhunters as one of summer’s hottest items. Need it.
Summer 2007 Havaianas as actually improving an already great thing. Especially with their new Slim Collection that combines a thin metallic strap and pretty flower print in ultra comfy style.

Exclusively at www.shopintuition.com is the adorable SUPERGIRL fashion collection! The line is based on the universally recognized symbol of strength and leadership – the S-shield, and celebrates the power of independence and self expression. Fans include Molly Sims, Gabrielle Reece, and Tori Spelling.
But if you’re feeling more grown up than Super Girl and want to release the Lynda Carter in you - - Custom Wonder Woman flip flops in two hot colors with the option to customize with your own color of crystals. Girl power on the beaches!
I am really fussy when it comes to white shoes or accessories - because white purses often sit on the fine line of hoochie bad or fresh good, but I’m suddenly really attracted to white purses everywhere.
There seems to be an abound of them that have some really interesting trims or accents to make them less, well less less ’shiny shiny in your face,’ and instead gives it some depth…and it becomes more stylish.
I picked up square shaped Nine West Aurora Cross Body Flap. The Cross Body is easy to find, but more difficult is the version with a "flap." What I love about this purse, and you can find this in other brands, is that although it’s white the exposed cross section is a rich golden brown.

Even easier to find, I also picked these cute Nine West alternatives in a shopper and satchel handbag - which are in nylon (easy to clean for white). And for a for a croc trim option, with the braided handle that Coach has made trendy, here’s yet another Nine West option.
Taking a break from the couture, Angelina Jolie showed up at N.Y.C. premiere of A Mighty Heart in a $26 dress.
Her thrift shop chic wasn’t hurt by the right accessories - that being Brad Pitt on her arm (and clad in Tom Ford), Frances Klein diamonds, and Christian Louboutin shoes with crystal heels.
The actress told "Access Hollywood" that her black crushed velvet dress was from the vintage store Wasteland on L.A’s trendy Melrose Avenue. The shop “is a mixing pot of used clothing from all eras. Mostly 60’s thru 80’s styles, but they also have a few 40’s-50’s jackpots.

Watch out Louboutin - there’s a new cobbler in town. Rickard Shah has quickly developed a celeb following with his sophisticated and well-crafted heels.
Jessica Alba is a fan, as is the design duo Jovovich-Hawk who selected his shoes for their Fall collection presentation. Shah also designs handbags.

I have a pair of white tights that I’d really like to wear. How can I wear them without looking overdressed?
The cardinal rules for White tights are as follows:
(1) The look should be modern mod–not hospital nurse.
(2) For the chicest look, echo the white in your tights elsewhere in your outfit. Read on for more Omiru advice.

With all the talk over the last nine months or so about Vera Wang’s upcoming collection for Kohl’s, I’ve pretty much shrugged off the topic. I’m so ambivalent about top-end designers creating mass-produced lines, that I decided not to get involved this time.
After all, look at Target: Isaac Mizrahi has become a genuine bore, and Proenza Shouler had potential, but the cuts are all wrong.
Oh yay - now I get to smell like more food to my husband. After exploring iLike’s paprika I decided to try some more spice.

One of the oldest medicinal plants, fenugreek’s earliest recorded use dates back to the ancient Egyptians - even found in Tutankhamun’s tomb. Fenugreek is often used in the prep for pickles, curry powders and pastes, and is often encountered in Egyptian and Indian cuisine.
For cosmetic purposes, fenugreek has a rep as a skin softener and is often in soothing facial masks. In ilike’s Fenugreek Gel for Wrinkles this organic concoction of hydrofirming marvel is applied to loose skin on the face, double chin, fine lines and deep neckline wrinkles.
The gel goes deep where no fenugreek has gone before - and regenerates skin functions, nourishes, soothes the skin and lifts drooping eyelids. Recommended for younger skin, and yes 30 somethings count.

Robert Schienberg (Marchon Eyewear) was recently on Oprah touting the latest sunglass trends. His proudest advice was: Sunglasses are a summer staple, but that doesn’t mean you should be married to just one pair. He said to treat them like shoes and have a whole bunch for your different moods. Um, as if we need to be told that.
I even have a designated sunglass drawer in our house - and you have to fight for his and hers space. He did share that you don’t have to choose frames based on the shape of your face. Instead, find a pair that fits your proportions - and personality.
Summer 2007 hot women trends are the medium rectangle and the modified aviator. My fav medium rectangle are the Coach Charlee Sunglasses.
I’ve always loved the aviator shape, but was tired of looking like a police officer or pilot. Angelina Jolie may have single-handedly brought back the aviator sunglass, but in all new versions of the old staple. So look for plastic versions of this frame - and fun accents like tortoise shell on the wire versions. Love, love…Lindsay Lohan’s Sunglasses from “Georgia Rule” which are She Finds tracked down as Miyagi Eyewear’s Rock Star.

There are tons of sweet suits popping up for swim season - but there is only one line that I’m being drawn to as a whole: Pako Pano and Paola Robba for Pako Pano.
This Brazillian swimwear line isn’t all about barely there. Inspired by 80’s punk rock attitude, elegant summers in Monte Carlo during the 50’s and the whimsical fantasy of faeries and pirate princesses the collection is full of subtle sophistication, edgy attitude and feminine flair!
I thought this Pirate Booty bikini was cute in lime top, damasque bottom. And then I saw the cigarette smoking skull on the bottoms and went you’ve got to be freakin’ kidding me. Love it. Ordered it (in the pink top)!
But the real glam suit is the Dita. As in Dita Von Teese? Two ways to wear Dita (above). If I was 10 pounds less of me then I’d be all over this one. Chic chic chic. Pirate is sexy cute, this is sexy riche. Also worthy is the Dahling one piece in curliques (I saw this one in Lucky), and this pink number is Rock On in Bond style.
Oh! when you’re on the corporate page - bottom right corner - play around with the dressing room to figure out your body swim style.
Has anyone managed to dive into the über crafty and simply beautiful magazine Blueprint?
The newest addition to the Martha Stewart family, this is the magazine for closet Type-A creative types - you know who you are.

Recently Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen (source) debuted a new line called Elizabeth and James, named after their younger siblings.
This line is said to be "more affordable" than Ashley’s other women’s line, The Row, which offers truly upscale ready to wear items.

We asked: Is Black and White In or Out?
You said: Black and White fashion is In with 83% of the vote.
Omiru’s take: No big surprise here. What’s not to love about black and white? It’s classic and nearly universally flattering. Style tip? Mix up plain black and white with a slice of color for a fresh summer look.
.
During the Easter holidays, I started looking at spring/summer fashion in stores and for some unknown reason, I really got into what I call the ‘hole-in-the-shoulder tops’. Maybe it’s because I like the look with the sleeves sort of droopy and hanging. It gives the outfit a sort of effortless, casual chic feeling.
Here’s my next find from Levis, their new luxury denim collection: Levis Capital E. Each pair of jeans is constructed by hand, which means no two are alike. One-of-a-kind signs of a human touch.
It’s easy to spot what sets the premium line apart from past Levis collections. The finest yarn, slower dye techniques, and cool wear effects. It can take up to 30 people to make one pair - even the back pockets are placed and sewn by hand. Check out Ford Models and Capital E.
Capital E has a several jean styles for women: Ruler jean is a flattering straight cut that goes long with heels or cuffed with flats; Skimmer jean is low and snug with an extra-long leg to scrunch up at the ankle or tuck into boots; Swank is low-rise boot cut; Trouser is tailored low-rise pant with a slightly flared leg; Vintage Flare (inspired by 646 cut) has a mid-rise body and is straight & slim through the thigh; and the Tapered Crop is a relaxed top, snug at the bottom.
I’m capital e for excited.
