I had mixed feelings about how Mexicans are once again being used to do most of the labor. It's sad that the exploitation of these 'artisans' is taking place under such a guise using the Virgen de Guadalupe and other icons as a lure to those who can afford to pay out the hundreds of dollars for a piece of this 'art.' Meanwhile, (according to the MORE magazine article) the folks working 'back at the ranch' don't even have access to phones. Hmmm...don't most reputable companies have cell phone service made available to all their professional employees as a necessity and not a perk? Anyway, such is the life of a rich gringa who becomes richer day by day.... I read about Ms. Finnegan’s jewelry endeavor in Mexico.
