OPI celebrates 25 years! They’ve launched a birthday collection - nail polish to capture fashion trends of the season and offer a touch of the glamour. Shades come with OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Lacquer Brush, which is supposed to slap on more polish in one big even, quick, streak free swoop; and they come in the usual signature names including "Who Comes Up With These Names?"
If you asked me what my all time fav-favoritest OPI name is I’d easily blurt out "I’m Not Really A Waitress" so it’s only suiting that they’re also celebrating the with the OPI 25th Anniversary book called…"I’M NOT REALLY A WAITRESS (And hundreds of other names people can’t stop talking about!)".
The story goes that the founder of OPI realized acrylic “porcelains” used to make dental prosthetics were similar to and, indeed, even better than the materials used by nail professionals for crafting acrylic nails. Plus they’ve got a history of nail colors, shade names and advertising campaigns that have made nail history. Fun!
P.S. When you’re a the OPI site check out the try on studio.
I found some ruffle tops that aren’t too cutesy. When you’re over 12 years old - there’s always that fine line with ruffles or bows.
The best ruffle set I’ve seen is this Rebecca Taylor milk chocolate silk ruffle camisole. That’s how you do balance femine without being cutesy. Other picks would be this Anthropologie navy one, and for more budget picks…
Bebe’s stretch silk halter, and Mossimo’s - Bittersweet velvet-trim. Perfect for a spot of party - but you’ll get lots of mileage beyond that too.
UPDATED: After some Seattle shopping I’ve got an update on all of these - Read on…

The news is that Nicole Richie has fired Rachel Zoe - rumor has it "just two weeks after ‘getting the help’ she needed to take care of her health. According to insiders, Richie ‘wanted to surround herself with positive influences’. Perhaps healthy elegance is making a comeback; it never should have left [via Style It].”
I’m not sure what the heck to make of all that, but the lady (Zoe that is) still has some good picks left in her. Here’s her fashion picks for Winter 2006. And for some more news on this stylist shakeup (her replacements Estee Stanley and Cristina Erlich) - check here.
Just say no to Northface. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, it’s once again time to pack away your summer wardrobe and take out your warmest coats. The Tribune had an excellent idea with their monthly coat rundown…
Unless you want Pink to call you a b*tch for wearing real fur, we’d recommend sticking to your fabulous faux options. And lucky for you, there are tons of beautiful fake-fur coats to standing between you and PETA’s scary can of red paint. We present to you the most luxurious and cozy faux fur coats out there…
Holiday wear doesn’t mean silly looking snowflake sweaters or tons of red and green…if you pick carefully, you can find cute holiday pieces that will carry through to be worn again and again. Look for sparkly tops, ribbon bow belted dress, belted tunic tops, and a budget suggestion.
Miu Miu mixing up their front face again! Lindsay Lohan has been chosen as the face of Miu Miu, the lower priced line from Prada. For fall 2006, Chinese actresses Dong Jie and Zhou Xun and Japanese model Lina Ohta fronted the brand, while in the past celebrity faces have included Kim Basinger, Camilla Belle, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore and Chloe Sevigny.
Elle spotlights that tortoise shell has resurfaced as the season’s most unexpected accent, turning up on everything from breezy dresses to wedge heels.
For my direct experiences I was completely torn between the Prada sunglasses I bought (the hipster pair I shared) and these Oliver Peoples Varadis 284. The dash of not-too girly pink is so chic! Trust me I was torn between the two but dropping another $300 wasn’t in the budget (insert shopping pang here).
You can also color me begrudgingly impressed yet again! At Jessica Simpson shoes. I was manhandling this pair that I so don’t need but admire. The tortoise shell runs along the bottom of the shoes too. The black Amanda is very, very fun.
Can’t ignore these Elle picks either: Wedge sandal, Dolce & Gabbana, Sequin shirtdress, Chloé.
So here’s the good news - Sephora’s Friends and Family 20% discount (between November 18 - 26) - enter coupon code F2006.
The bad new is that the best deal is sold out until January 2007 (but maybe the coupon will work towards backorders). Check out: Sephora Blockbuster Palette, I have no idea what I will do with 64 eyeshadows, 32 lip colors, 7 cheek colors, 1 translucent shimmer powder, and a bunch of brushes. That’s more color than most girls can handle!
Sephora always has dealios on my two fav’ "make me prettier" brands, Stila and Benefit. I just replenished a Stila Lipglaze in Guava, but wouldn’t mind this gift set of gloss.
But if I was looking for a fun purchase there’s always the Sephora Monopoloy game. Advance to go for winning a shopping spree, and best of all - go to jail for bad hair days! No really.
And if you want a real splurge to use that 20% off towards - then go for the "it" hair dryer. The Tourmaline Professional Ionic Hair Dryer (this gal’s long tresses make me a firm believer in ionic power). There’s alot of buzz about this dryer as it’s quickly becoming a cult favorite.
…is GOLD baby. Equal parts edgy and elegant…favorites include: Tibi dress, Miu Miu shoes (to die for), Erva gold leather chain bag, gold skull pendant with black diamond by fettY and last but not least Giles and Brother chain bracelet.
The It Lists is not a fan of UGGs beyond in the house, but even Betsey Johnson can do her magic to these uggly things. Mathew McConaughey, Betsey Johnson, Debra Messing, Kelly Preston, Jessica Simpson and many more artists and celebrities put their artistic skills to work for UGG® Australia’s 4th annual Art & Sole Collection. The hand painted boots will be auctioned off on www.uggaustralia.com.
We just can’t get over the Dresses with Pockets trend, but then again, neither can you. Enjoy our updated Dresses with Pockets picks, which will usher you right through the holiday season.
With the ten million denim brands out there, it gets pretty confusing. Every season, there are a few brands that stand out. Here are this season’s: Acne (below), JBrand, Earnest Sewn, TopShop, Superfine. Remember if you’re not one for skinny, or even straight-leg jeans, then stick to our loveable, classic flared jeans, like Sevens, Citizens and True Religion.
I’m a bit late on posting this since it aired the other week on Oprah, but still worth sharing! Hey, I got busy and forgot. It’s Cole Haan. It’s sporty science. It’s not cheap.
Cole Haan Air is the unexpected and unique collision of two worlds, sport and fashion. Cole Haan’s new line of fall pumps and boots leverages Nike Air technology to help when marching around the office or standing for hours at swanky cocktail parties. My favorites are in the G Series (and even though it’s not really sandal season - love this Kyla).
"I’m not going to say that a 4-inch heel feels like a sneaker. But you feel the effect of walking in a shoe that has some support, you feel that padding and cushioning under the ball of your foot," said Annie Taube, CH’s Fashion Director, who worked closely with Gordon Thompson III, Senior VP/Creative Director, during the two years it took to design the new line. [via Cole Haan].
A peak over at She Finds give her take of the Oprah fest and her picks (and a bunch of options of where to find these cushy shoes).
P.S. Nike owns Cole Haan.
It’s seem that everything can become a fashion accessory - even what you drink.
Here’s something new from the world of water - the world’s first magazine on a bottle! iLove is a peel away 32-page glossy. And this isn’t some cheezy rag - it’s packed full of health tips to Herme, and glam’ covers are starring the likes of Pink, Mischa, Lohan, and Charlize. It’s currently only available downunder, but don’t be surprised if Australia doesn’t share it with our borders soon.
If the media has you paranoid about carcongenic plastic water bottles then you have one more reason to dig the Sigg. Sigg Switzerland is the Swiss-made aluminum drinking bottles that will have you a very healthy fashionista. Get it here or here.
Blak is the the new black. No that’s not a spelling mistake. Blak Coca Cola is an energy drink hybrid that has half the calories and twice the caffine. It’s effervescence with coffee essence! My rocket fuel of choice is Rock Star (especially now that they have zero carb and juiced), but since black is the color of the day I might have to give Blak a try.
Ecofriendly isn’t a trend it’s now a way of life - so it makes sense to start seeing a textile revolution.
Bamboo clothing will become the next "it" fiber due to it’s remarkable natural characteristics: it’s as soft as cashmere (ah, now I have your attention), naturally wicks moisture, naturally antibacterial, extra breathable, stays cooler in heat, warmer in the cold, and is the most environmentally friendly raw material on the planet.
Panda Snack founders Deborah Boria and Dearrick Knupp are definitely onto something. They’ve married eco-consciousness with fair trade and chic design…love this t-shirt. Plus! part of the proceeds go to panda preservation. And if you’re checking Panda Snack on Azaleaonline.com - I’d also checkout their new look book for some stylist ideas.
Another cute bamboo option is super simple undies from Panty Boo (I just love the name too).
Bamboo is the best thing ever.

What’s so special about Fidelity Denim? Omiru had the chance to chat with Jason Trotzuk, Canadian jean designer, who dished about the story behind his company name, why he loves dark skinny jeans so much, and the reason fit is the most important factor in denim design.
The It Lists is also drooling over this Couture in the City find!!
Bruno Frisoni’s designer shoes are sex appeal and confidence all wrapped up in one fabulously foot-centric package. Frisoni’s 2006/2007 Fall -Winter Collection is full of glorious 4-inch heels, Patent Leathers, Satin Ribbon Straps, Leopard Prints, Strappy Stilettos and pretty Peep Toes.

The perfect position for your boobies is midway between your shoulders and your elbows. Your bra should be level front to back. Susan Nethero says most women wear their bra bands too high on their torsos and throw their measurements off. Susan says there are obvious clues your bra is the wrong size…read more!
La fille d’O is the young brand from Belgium with a finger licking lingerie collection: an exploration of the borderline between ‘innocence’ and ’seduction’. The naughty brand recently turned 3 years old and celebrates it in her own sensuous style.La fille d’O wants to work its way into the dull and stuffy world of underwear and beach wear like a trojan horse.
P.S. Listen with the sound on – fun trax!
P.S.S. For giggles check out this other archived video ad too. By giggles I mean the panties that are missing the behind in them – as my husband proclaimed “those would leave really funny panty lines.”
Shoppers get your game face on… Vitkor & Rolf’s collection for H&M hits stores today. This collection may be the first time a higher end designer has actually provided a "theme" for a lower-end mass market collection. V&R included a wedding dress (priced around $350) in their collection (as well as a tuxedo for men).
Shopping just got geekier! Like.com is the first true visual search engine, where the contents of photos are used to search and retrieve similar items. In Shop-inese what that means to you is this…
Want to know where to buy that trendy new bag that Jessica Alba was photographed with last weekend? The sparkly new watch Paris was snapped in? Like.com can look for it without you even knowing the designer.
Don’t have an image to run thru the search engine? Instead start with text so - if you enter a text query, like “jet black almond toe wedges,” Like.com will convert that query and look for related image results.
The site launched today returns results only for shoes, jewelry, hand bags and clothing, but more categories are coming soon. See a sample search here.
I know it’s a bit geeky for fashion, but think of all the pretty things you can now find. And best of all Like.com is offering free shipping to the first 10,000 fashionistas.

Faint Jewelry is always fun, fashionable, fresh - and always original! Kristin Balter collects Swarovski crystal from Austria, firepolished glass from Czech Republic, and murano glass from Italy and then hand makes jewel creations in Vancouver, BC.
Last spring I tripped upon Faint looking for a bit of fun sparkle. I’m the proud owner of this chocolate and baby blue combo. The "shimmering gem blue droplet" on the bottom is plastic, but as Erika’s grandma used to say "a man on horseback couldn’t tell," or if he was sitting next to you. Maybe if they were laying bedside. ;) Bottom line is that you get enough sparkle for your buck.
The latest fall line looks to be the best yet - even better quality & better style. From jet black jewels (I’m addicted to and can’t stop buying) to this great Francesca Fiore blue larimar and rubellite drop necklace (middle below) that comes in a 30" length - which is perfect for doubling up and getting the trendy multi-chain look.

You can buy Faint online at Snazzy Girl (which is all Canadian pricing!) and if you’re actually in Faint’s hometown try Rain Salon.
Slouchy, Sleeky, Chunky and Wedgie…no not some bad dwarf names but rather the great chill season footwear I found. I want, I want, I want. On the weekend Babs and I were talking boots and I said hands down Piper Lime is my fav’ new site for shoes (especially boots).

Kenneth Cole New York Ride & Seek - Almond toe, and a chunky row of buckles.
Dr. Scholl’s Fable - slouchy, green suede. And tell me a Dr Scholl wouldn’t be comfortable?
Naturalizer Denzel - a high, flat boot that is super sleek. What wouldn’t this go with?

The Aerosole wedges are still my favs, but for wedges with a twist of style I like the Apepazza Basso - in rust suede, and love the sculpted wedge. Kenzie Faith - brass studs and stitched accents make it a rich looking.
